Racism, mind your language, discourse-historical approach, discursive strategiesĬritical Discourse Analysis sees discourse (language use in speech and writing) as form of social practice (Wodak & Busch, 1999). The result of the study shown that the historical-political background the characters’ countries own influence the motive and the strategies of racism they use. Using the theory of discourse-historical approach to racism, this study aims to see the motive and the discursive strategies used by the characters of a TV series Mind Your Language. As a result, the practice of racism is done not only through social, but also political, economic, education, media and so forth. Racism not only deals with race and biological, but also culture, ideology and many other aspects. Racism becomes one of every day’s talks in human interaction.
